#OccupyDigest Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011:
Community members at #OccupyWallStreet meet at General Assembly this evening--Debate the urgency of development of consensus vs. inclusion of everyone's principles in the overall dialogue regarding the Demands of the Occupy Movement. Concensus is yet forthcoming...Flag of the Revolution - 2011Detailed (if unofficial) minutes of the #OccupyWallStreet General Assembly's meeting today can be found athttp://nycga.cc/2011/09/28/media-group-minutes-92511-730p/#more-706
Susan Sarandon appeared at #OccupyWallStreet, urging Protesters to make their demands clear. Also in attendance today, Dr. Cornell West, noted social-justice advocate. The Occupy Movement is definitely gathering star power to its banner. Whether or not it is right that a movement should need stars to endorse it, rather than stand on its own merits, the fact is, the Occupy Movement is benefiting from the high profile names who are showing support to it.
Meanwhile at #OccupyChicago, the crowds are described as getting "bigger and bigger everyday". #OccupyChicago marched on Jackson and Michigan today, and continues protests at the Fed. No official confirmation, as of yet, on their actual numbers. However, reports coming out #OccupyChicago's Twitter profile seem to indicate a certain level of solidarity amongst the officers of the Chicago Police Dept. with their aspirations, including one who said he "wanted to join us".
Breaking News: Protest Movements in the great city of Barcelona, Spain, send messages of congratulation and solidarity to Occupy via Twitter. Additionally, there have been reports via Facebook that Warsaw, Poland would be joining the movement in solidarity with Occupy.
Elsewhere, solidarity movements in #OccupyDenver and #OccupyLA have arisen, and #OccupyTexas also appears to be organizing in some of Texas' primary cities, such as Dallas, Houston, and the State Capitol, Austin. #OccupyBlackHills has also been organizing, and is currently discussing a trip to Denver to stand in solidarity with #OccupyDenver Protesters.
In related news, D.J. Raspe emails #OccupyWallStreet gmail address with a link to Edward Bellamy's "Looking Backward". No word yet on whether or not they will read the book.
Mr. Raspe was reached for comment, "I think it's a very, very good idea for the Occupy Movement to take in the ideas of Mr. Bellamy, since, really, the ideas expressed in his novel appear to be very much in the same spirit of the Occupy Protests, and may provide valuable solutions at a time when the Occupy Protesters are kinda dashing their heads up against a wall trying to build consensus. Just a thought..." Also, today, it was discovered that D.J. Raspe is bat-shit-crazy, since he has pretty much taken to referring to himself in the third person...
Okay, enough with the self-deprecating humor there. Anyways here's your Occupy Digest for today. Hope that informs y'allz about what's going on in the Occupy Movement a bit...
